Hi,

My Oracle database is 8.1.7.4
Characterset is WE8ISO8859P1
I need to convert to AL32UTF8

But before that when i test with CSSCAN i get the following error

8.1.7 does not know AL32UTF8, it just knows the old UTF8.
If you want to convert to AL32UTF8 you need to first upgrade to at least 9.2 (but better 10.2).

Hi,

Thanks for clearing my doubt.
Yes i need to migrate to 9i or 10g and then import the data.

But is there any way that i check the data for any incompatibility before importing.
Would CSSCAN with utf8 will be of help?

Yes, use UTF8 instead of AL32UTF8 in your CSSCAN command.
