Hi,

It could just be me, but I find messages that use other than standard fonts, fontsizes or colors very annoying.
I don't see any use for it, other than that people that tend to use it do it to attract attention.
That's why I would want to suggest to remove the possibility to (manually) alter the font/size/color, other than by the code/quote etc predefined styles.
If I'm the only one who's annoyed by this, than I guess I'll have to accept it.

Frank

Hi Frank,

It annoys me as well. Although, most users are using it responsibly.

Anyway, this forum is already hacked to pieces. I would really like to postpone such a change until absolutely necessary.

Best regards.

Frank

Frank,

I agree that it isn't really a 'Must have'. Was quite annoyed the time I posted it I guess.

Thanks anyway and keep up the good work

Since this is (mainly) a text-based forum, would it be a good idea to remove the possibility to change Font-face, -color and -size?
Up till now, I have not seen any useful use of either of them. They only lead to annoying posts (IMHO).

Bold, underline and using caps should be enough to emphasize text, and if there's a need for a non-proportional font, the code-tags can be used.

I agree.
There are very few cases I used colors about one out of 1000 messages and only to lecture a poster.
About size, I think only 2 or 3 should be useful: normal (2), small (1, I used it to indicate the reason of an edit, useful for a note) and, maybe, big (3, to really emphasize a point).
About Font, the default Arial is easy to read. A new user (mson77) use Courrier, I have some problem to read (this is just my eyes). Times and Century are too flourish font for a technical forum, I think. But this is minor.

Michel

I agree with Michel . Specially, about the font (mson77 uses courrier ). Sometimes I ignore to read.

Occasionally I would like to highlight, using colour, the code changes that I may have made when I repost another posters code. Unfortunately, you can't use 'colour' tags inside 'code' tags.

There are some people who use colour for ALL of their post and it is really annoying.

I agree, get rid of 'color' and 'font', and just leave us a few sizes and the 'quote' and 'code' tags.

Do we need the 'alignment' facility??

I don't think alignment is very useful (I don't see any message using it).
Maybe indentation could help in post clarity.
