how to export/import oracle database from ones own pc to a remote one or vice-versa?
give stepwise solution.

would anybody recommend using the ignore=y is there any drawbacks of using this parameter

You means network IMP/EXP??

Or you just take it on actual and then by scp/ftp transfer it to there.

When tables are manually created before data is imported,
the CREATE TABLE statement in the export dump file will fail
because the table already exists. To avoid this failure and continue
loading data into the table, set the import parameter IGNORE=y.
Otherwise, no data will be loaded into the table because of the table
creation error.
