I did an export from 8.1.7(on solaris) which had a tablespace consisting of 5x2GB datafiles but now when i do an import to 10g(Linux) it creates the tablespace with single datafile the size of which is 9GB.
Will i have any problem in the future with this,also i didnt specified big file tablespace.

Imp will create the tablespace only if there is the same files structure available and if so , the same datafiles /tablespaces will be created.
In your case, it seems you have precreate the tablespace.

You have to tell. Look into the logfile. See if all objects areimported.
BIGFILE tablespaces are meant for terabyte datafiles.
9gb is minuscule. A regular tablespace will be just fine.

I need to create the tablespace with the datafiles so that it dosent get larger,the problem with large single datafiles is its difficult to copy to remote systems.
In the logfile it shows all objects are imported but gets everything in one huge datafile which id difficult to manage so i think the best is create the tablespace and the datafiles and then do the import.

What difficulty are you expecting to arise?

Upto you.
You create tablespace with multiple small datafiles and do the import.

Not exactly correct.
One large file is always better than multiple small files (save yourself from network roundtrips).
