Can we validate the exported DMP file? (merged) [message #221492]

Is there any possible way to check whether the exported *.dmp file is valid and it will work fine or not, without importing it ???

In Oracle9i, Is there any possiblity to validate or check the exported dump(*.dmp) file,to assure whether it will work fine or not without importing it ????

Try imp with SHOW=Y. The block headers will have to be read and this should throw errors if there is corruption. Can anyone corroborate this?

But can i use it through my java coding to find out the errors in the dump or the corrupted heades ???

export/import is a logical process.
You can do a dummy import with show=y to see the contents of import. But you cannot check the data.
