is there anyway i can stop the logs(arhive logs) being generated during exp/imp ??

You can always switch the database into NOARCHIVELOG before and back to ARCHIVELOG after the import.

quite interesting...
i dont know if thats in a remotest sense possible on production databases.

even if i make an attempt...my boss will tell me to bye bye.

Then, would it be sensible to stop archived logging in a production database? Only possible method (with sense) is what Frank has said.
You can minimize the redo generation. But cannot stop it.
