I insall oracle 9i 32bit on my laptop having xp proff. but after one day my system shows me that less disk space i.e oracle eat up whole memory even thoug i don't have any software on it like Office,Acrobat Reader like that.
What i have to do. I download the oracle from Oracle Technology site.
Can somebody help me to solve it.

I think You did some wrong configuration, please uninstall it if u can than re-install againg, i have all the software on my laptop and I have lot of space remaining.

Unless you have a specific need to, you shouldn't be installing 9iR2, but instead 10gR1 or 10gR2.
Also, when you say memory, do you mean RAM memory or disk memory? The init.ora parameters control how much RAM you database instance will use when it is running.

I have core duo 2Ghz,with 2GHz ram and 100 GB disk. My computer is saying i have less memory disk i.e hard disk.
About 10g& 9i, my friend says that i have to install 9i. so please explore this issue because i am learner and you guys are Gurus.
And now I reinstall my system from all the cds which came with it and still it has 95 GB is free, so I am afraid if i install the database again then it will eat up 95GB, but i wanna database on my laptop for practice. can somebody help me to put it to my system.

If you started with 100 gig free, installed oracle, and how have 95 gig free, then it means oracle only took up 5 gig, and you have plenty of space left. Maybe I'm not understanding, but I don't see this as a problem.
Also, unless your environment requires 9i, meaning you have a specific app from a vendor or someone that is only certified on 9i, then run 10g instead because it is newer, less bugs, and easier to install and to manage.

Martin,
I was trying to say that i install all the xp proff.and related software which took 4GB and i did not install the oracle. i have free 96GB for oracle if i am going to install oracle may be it will show me same message.that disk space is low.

Maher,
if I install 10g XE how can I practice on it? Like we can unlock the Hr database in 9i,can we also do something in 10g for the practice, Actually i wanna cover PL/SQL, Dicoverer,Forms and Repots. this is my main aim,So what i have to do, you are professional in Oracle,your guidence will helps me alot.

FYI: My XE here takes 1.1GB. The download size is just over 160M so you should be fine when it comes to disk space. Now, as for your question. You probably mean that there are 3 windows downloads available:
1. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Western European)
2. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Universal)
3. Oracle Database 10g Express Client: as it says in the accompanying: "to be installed on client systems for remotely accessing Oracle Database 10g Express Edition. You do not need to install the client onto the same computer as Oracle Database 10g Express Edition."
You have 2 options left: you install the version with the interface in English only and with the single byte character set. But if you want to use a multibyte character set (like Japanese) or if you want the interface to be in French or Brazilian, you take the universal version. They are functionally the same, the second one however has some extra language support features.
