Hi !

I am trying to install Oracle Provider for OLE DB 8.1.7.3.0 on Oracle 8i Release 8.1.5 on Win2K Server, but when I click on "Setup.exe" file Or try run it from run, nothing happens.

I hv also tried replacing/moving file syncjit.dll file from oraclejre...bin. but made no difference.

Pls suggest any solution.

Regards.

Bobby

I'm having exactly the same issue on a Windows Server 2003 with Client 8.1.7. (Haven't met the issue with XP, anyway.) Tried the following without success:

- setting the regional settings (main and default) back to US English;
- reinstalling the client;
- installing the newest JRE (1.4.2_04);
- modifying oraparam.ini file.

Please let me know if there's any solution.

Got the solution!

The funniest thing that YOU gave me the idea to replace the symcjit.dll in the OLE DB 8.1.7.3.0 installer. (There were some jvm.dll related procedure entry point error messages after the file replacement, but I managed to install the patch.) This dll is known to be needed on P4 based systems to run the oracle installer. (My symcjit.dll is 419,840 bytes long if it helps.) If you still got the problem on your side try to combine the dll replacement with the few steps I posted earlier.
Good luck! ;)

(I still do not understand why I haven't got the same situation with the same 8.1.7 Client + 8.1.7.3.0 OLE DB patch install CD on XP...)
