Hi,
I'm using a windows 98 SE system with PIII 800 Processor, 64MB SDRAM. It works fine
with Oracle 8 Personal. When I install Oracle 8i, After installation when I login to SQL Plus it give
me an error "TNS Protocol Adapter Error".
Pls suggest me to get rid of this problem.

I had an error message as Personal Oracle 8 completed its installation on my win98 SE (PIII 800mhz + 256MB RAM) machine. The version of Personal Oracle is 8.0.4.0.0. Please advise whether you had such problems or any solutions

it need user name and passowrd
when i provide these information
it will give error

What is the user name you using?
How are you logging on?

If it is Sql * Plus,Go to Sql* plus and login as

User :system

Password: manager

Wich error? You need to specify the code for error.
It looks lie ORA-00???? where ???? means the number for the error code.

You need to start the instance.
Try this:
Go to DOS
In DOS mode execute SVRMGRL
Type CONNECT INTERNAL
The system ask for password (the default is ORACLE)
Type STARTUP
EXIT

Whit this steps you start the instance and you can work
