On Friday night I resized my database by doing an export a recreation of the database and an import of the data.   Everything seemed fine until the backup failed on Sunday morning.  The problem is that the backups are run from our root account through a cron job (on a solaris system) and the root user didn't have any privileges to attach as sysoper or sysdba.  I added the root user as well as my account to the dba group and I can attach as a privileged user through my username and through the oracle username but not through the root user.  Prior to the resize everything worked fine.

If any of you guys have any ideas/input it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
