Oracle does NOT support any Home edition of Windows.

V9 Oracle is obsoleted & unsupported.
Only fully supported Oracle version now is V11

Unfortunately, your operating system edition is "Home" and - as Blackswan said - Oracle most probably won't work on that version.

What you could do is to install a virtual box on Windows 7; then install Windows XP (or some other operating system, such as Linux) on virtual box; finally, install Oracle on operating system on virtual box. Oracle's version should be the one that is or was certified with the chosen virtual box operating system.

Not exactly an ideal situation, but that's an option you might consider as well.

Upgrade to Windows 7 Professional, then install Oracle 11g release 2. That's what I did. You can upgrade online, but it will cost you.
