We're installing oracle database 10g on a Microsoft Windows 2003 Server. I was asked if i want the operating system to be in a partition and the database in another partition or not. which is better? to have them on the same partition or to have each one of them in a different partition?

It is better to have them in different disks or if you only have one disk (very bad idea) on different partitions.

1/ Performance issue ( OS and Database)

2/ No Data Security/Safe ( If OS corrupt )

Thanks
