Hi all,

i had just shutdown the database(Oracle 9i) as:

shutdown normal;

now,when i startup the database as:

startup nomount pfile='...';
then,
alter database mount;

it gives me error like;--
can not mount database in exclusive mode.

How can i rectify it.
Please help me.

Thanks.

Copy and paste your session, don't try to interpret it.

But before doing so please read OraFAQ Forum Guide, especially "How to format your post?" section.
Make sure that lines of code do not exceed 80 characters when you format.
Indent the code (See SQL Formatter).
Use the "Preview Message" button to verify.
Also always post your Oracle version with 4 decimals.

Regards
Michel
